Number of COVID-19 cases in Traill County increases by seven

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Traill County increased by seven from Monday through Wednesday, according to state health officials.

The North Dakota Department of Health reported one positive case Monday and three apiece on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing the county’s overall count to 42.

No new cases were reported in the county when updated figures were released by the state early Thursday afternoon.

Five cases have been listed as being spread through close contact while 20 cases have been classified as community spread.

Five more have been listed as household while three spread through travel. Nine other cases remain under investigation.

According to the health department, 30 residents of Traill County have recovered from COVID-19 while 12 cases continue to be active.

Statewide, health officials announced 75 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday while reporting 94 individuals had recovered from the virus.

Across North Dakota, 6,301 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since state health officials began tracking the virus.

The department attributed 103 deaths and 356 hospitalizations to COVID-19 in the state this year. Forty-three patients remained hospitalized Thursday.
