A presentation by an out-of-town group from Cavalier, N.D., highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of Hillsboro was postponed by a blizzard Friday, Jan. 17.

Part of NDSU Extension’s Community Impressions Program, the presentation was scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. last Friday inside the Traill County Courthouse.

Traill County Extension agent Alyssa Scheve said that organizers were trying to agree on a rescheduled date in February for the presentation.

“It’s probably not going to happen this month,” Scheve said Wednesday. “We’re hoping it still gets done this winter if Mother Nature cooperates.”

Ten first-time visitors from Cavalier toured Hillsboro last fall as part of the program, driving around residential neighborhoods and serving as secret shoppers at Hillsboro businesses.

The volunteers were asked to identify areas of strength as well as types of improvements that could be made to improve the city.

A team of five from Hillsboro and Traill County visited Cavalier to tour its downtown and residential areas and offer similar feedback.

Scheve said organizers would attempt to announce the rescheduled presentation date well in advance to allow Hillsboro residents to attend.
