Reagan Baesler had one more race to show off in front of the North Dakota cross-country crowd. She made the best of it Saturday at the state meet in Minot at Souris Valley Golf Course.

“This was my last time wearing a (Hillsboro-Central Valley cross-country) uniform and I wanted to make my team and my coach proud. I think I did,” Baesler said after winning her fourth straight individual title as the Burros took third.

Baesler finished the meet in 18:26, dominating the 5-kilometer race from start to finish. She beat the second-place finisher by about 30 seconds.

With about a half-mile left on the fairly flat course, H-CV head coach Kirk Zink told Baesler how proud he was of his standout runner.

“I told her to spend the next two to three minutes (toward) the finish line showing off a little bit,” he said Tuesday.
