Students and staff at Central Valley School will be required to wear masks on buses and in lunch lines and hallways when the school year kicks off Aug. 18.

However, the decision to don masks inside classrooms will be left to teachers and students, administrators said Tuesday.

Principal Frank Justin said school officials have spent the past few weeks nailing down plans to reopen while addressing concerns caused by the coronavirus.

“The general consensus is that everyone’s happy to be coming back, but we definitely have people who still have concerns and worries,” Justin said Tuesday.

Justin estimated 10 percent to 15 percent of families in the school district will keep their children at home and rely on virtual learning when fall classes resume.
