Officials in Hillsboro have scheduled a pair of public meetings this month to discuss the city’s need for a new public pool and the Hillsboro Rec District’s mill levy vote in June.

Members of the Hillsboro City Commission will preside over the pool forum at 7 p.m. Thursday inside the Hillsboro city armory along Highway 81.

The gathering will be the third forum to discuss construction of a new pool rather than repairing the city’s 64-year-old pool in Woodland Park.

Previous public forums centered on the pool were held Aug. 20 and June 25.

Terry Sando, Hillsboro’s mayor, told residents at the Aug. 20 forum that the Woodland Park pool lost more than 9,800 gallons of water a day over the summer due to evaporation and a cracked liner.
