FARGO – The No. 1-seeded beasts from the east topped the best from

the west in this year’s Dakota Bowl.

Head coach Scott Olsen and the Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros beat the Beulah Miners 35-12 in the Class 2A state championship game Friday, Nov. 15 inside the Fargodome.

The victory capped a perfect 12-0 season for the Burros and allowed H-CV to capture its second state title in three years following the team’s Class 1A title win in 2017.

Olsen credited his seniors for paving the way for the Burros’ title win over the Miners.

“This senior group is the best we’ve ever had. They lost four times their whole (varsity) career,” said Olsen, Class 2A’s coach of the year. “They didn’t set the standard, but they followed it and kept it going. They played physical and played hard and kept the tradition alive of playing with great attitude and great effort. They raised the bar.”
