Traill County will apply for a $50,000 grant from the State Historical Society of North Dakota to help pay for repairs to the county’s leaking courthouse dome.

County commissioners called a special meeting Tuesday to move ahead with the grant application, which has to be filed with the historical society today (Friday).

Buxton architect Bobbi Hepper Olson reached out to commissioners and offered to submit the Cultural Heritage Grant application on behalf of the county at no cost.

Commissioners agreed the leaking 112-year-old dome needs repairs and debated if the county should delay a planned parking lot expansion to pay for dome repairs in 2020.
