Fargo man dies in I-29 accident north of Buxton

A Fargo man died around noon Saturday after rear-ending a semi on Interstate 29 about 2 miles north of Buxton.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the victim as Damon Williams, 26.

According to the Highway Patrol, Williams’ 2014 Nissan was traveling south on Interstate 29 when the vehicle struck a 2011 Mack semi driven by Jaime Venegas Ilbanez, 46, of Hearne, Texas.

Williams was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. Ibanez was not injured in the accident.

The Traill County Sheriff’s Department, Hillsboro Ambulance and Buxton Fire Department responded to the accident. 

The crash remains under investigation.
