The Traill County Historical Society is preserving the history of Hillsboro’s Heritage Park in a new documentary set to be released this fall.

Isaac Luithle, a 2020 graduate of Hillsboro High School, is filming and editing a series of interviews detailing the origins of the buildings and items on the historic grounds.

The project, spearheaded by TCHS board member Krystal Abentroth, features local historians John Wright, Dallas Boeddeker and Duane and Shirley Nysveen sharing their knowledge and memories of Heritage Park.

“The Nysveens and Dallas Boeddeker have spent countless hours and years dedicating their lives to the historical society,” Abentroth said. “They hold the secrets. They know the story behind everything.”

Filming for the documentary took place this summer and features information on Bloomfield No. 1 School, St. Olaf Church, the Pioneer Building, blacksmith shop and log cabin.
