Hillsboro city commissioners spent 90 minutes Monday night updating potential projects, contemplating growth, scrutinizing expenses and considering the city’s future.

Commission President Terry Sando reported that the Riverwalk development proposed for land west of Interstate 29 is moving forward with the legalities of annexation and zoning changes as well as detailed discussions with developer and local landowner Pat Muller.

As phase one of the 20-acre residential housing project is imagined, Sando said he wants to bring together local business and school leaders, large employers and prospective builders to determine housing needs and jump-start building.

The city leader has repeatedly said he expects dirt work to

begin in the spring of 2020.
