The Hillsboro City Commission has pulled its financial support for a 32-unit multi-family housing project in the city under consideration by Jordahl Custom Homes of Fargo.

City Commission President Terry Sando told the Hillsboro Economic Development Corp. that the $150,000 city leaders budgeted to help the project will be used elsewhere.

“As far as the city is concerned, the Jordahl project is dead,” Sando said Monday night.

The announcement generated a tense back-and-forth exchange between Sando and HEDC board members who have publicly backed the housing project the past year.

Board member Jon Bertsch suggested Sando and the city failed to move the project forward in a timely manner and dropped the ball by not communicating on a regular basis with Fargo developer Rob Jordahl.
