Administrators in the Hillsboro and Central Valley school districts on Wednesday continued to wait for state officials to announce whether schools will reopen this spring.

State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler planned to announce Thursday if students across North Dakota would be required to return to classes prior to the end of May.

No decision had been announced when the Banner went to press at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Hillsboro Public Schools Superintendent Paula Suda said Wednesday that local educators still have lingering concerns about reopening schools due to the coronavirus.

“I’d be leery to (return) because we don’t know what the outcome would be,” she said.

Suda said administrators were asked to send emails to Baesler on Tuesday night outlining how students are adjusting to distance learning and whether schools were having difficulty connecting with families.
