City leaders moved forward Monday with a plan to expand staff at Hillsboro City Hall.

At the request of city auditor Matt Mutzenberger, commissioners agreed to advertise for an administrative assistant to handle of variety of data entry projects and to be cross-trained for other duties in the office

Mutzenberger calculated the position would cost the city about $56,000 a year with benefits. The position would start at about $19 per hour, he noted.

The auditor explained that with cost savings and increased revenues in 2019, the position can be filled mid-year and be sustained going forward.
