Administrators in the Hillsboro School District are projecting enrollment in the district to climb by more than 50 students in the next five years.

Superintendent Paula Suda told the Hillsboro School Board June 11 that school officials expect enrollment to increase from 478 this fall to 530 by fall 2025.

Suda said administrators were conservative in their estimate, noting that a housing boom in the Riverwalk Addition west of Interstate 29 could bump those figures even higher.

“Our (numbers) are going to rise but they will rise even more if that development gets going here soon,” Suda told board members.

Hillsboro’s enrollment hovered around 400 students in 2010, dipped slightly to 391 in 2012 but rebounded to 459 in 2015.
