Kirk Zink has agreed to pull double duty for the Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros.

The H-CV cross-country coach, who led the Burros girls team to eight straight state titles, was hired Thursday to become the sports co-op’s new head track coach.

The co-op has had separate boys and girls track coaches since the 2012-13 school year, but girls coach Heidi Eckart left the school district over the summer.

Burros athletic director Dave Nelson said school officials wanted to revamp the track program with one head coach and hire more assistants.

“We want multiple assistants and we’re hoping to take one of those positions and create two part-timers so we can have people in specialty areas,” Nelson said.
