In response to a growing need for mental health support, the Hillsboro School District was one of several rural North Dakota school districts last year to provide student access to a mental health professional on-site at its schools.

Based on positive feedback, Hillsboro Public Schools will provide this service again in the 2019-29 school year. A licensed and trained therapist from The Village Family Service Center will travel to Hillsboro once a week.

This collaborative investment is made possible through a grant with the Burgum Foundation and the local district.

“This on-site service allows for little or no interruption to the student’s and parent’s day,” said Hillsboro Superintendent Paula Suda. “We are grateful for the Foundation’s generosity and the impact this grant is making on mental health disorders to our students.”
