September in the Red River Valley was one for the record books.

The month went down as the wettest September on record in Grand Forks, with 9.07 inches of rain falling in the month at the city’s National Weather Service office.

That shattered the 62-year-old previous record by more than 1.5 inches.

“September was 7.02 inches wetter than normal,” said Ryan Knutsvig, meteorologist with the Grand Forks NWS office.
