The Central Valley School Board on Wednesday approved spending up to $10,000 to improve the drainage surrounding Randy Vigen Field.

Standing water around the football field forced school officials to move last week’s varsity football game between Hillsboro-Central Valley and Devils Lake to Hillsboro.

Central Valley Superintendent Jeremy Brandt said Ross Johnson of Agassiz Drain Tile in Buxton recently offered free labor to install drain tile around the field.

Supplies and piping required for the project would cost $7,500, although school officials are still deciding which direction to channel water, Brandt said.
